Making a Difference: Ignite Durham Learning Foundation

Boxes of food sitting on the table at the foundation ready to be delivered to those in need.

Since May 2021, Ignite Durham Learning Foundation (IDLF) has been working to ensure that every student has nutritious food at lunch and snacks, is dressed for the weather, has access to life-changing programs, and can find success in post-secondary education. During the 2022-2023 school year, IDLF supported 596 students across 85 schools!

IDLF also facilitates the Make A Difference Depot,  known affectionately within the community as “the Depot,” located within Village Union Public School. The Depot is a space unique to Durham that houses brand new clothing and supplies for students to access to help them excel, a nutrition station full of food to supplement in-school snack programs and fill hungry tummies, and a resource section that houses items for educators to repurpose in their classrooms. This support is possible thanks to our generous community of donors and partners, as well as campaigns such as “Cereously”: Full Bellies, Fuel Brains, the Make Tomorrow Brighter Auction, and the School Supply Drive. We are grateful for the generous support of our community partners and donors!

Donation box fill to the rim with cereal for the full belllies fuel brains campaign.
Director of Education Camille Williams-Taylor presents students with a certificate of recognition for their help with the cereal campaign.
