Student Trustees, Student Senate and Student-led Initiatives

The Student Trustees had a dynamic year with their primary focus being on amplifying the voices of all DDSB students at the board level. This included reforms to the Student Trustee election process to ensure that every secondary student had the opportunity to vote and a refocus of the structure of Student Senate to make sure that Senators have opportunities to speak about the topics that matter to them.

Senate also ran two initiatives in 2023: the Mental Health Symposium, a week of mental health focused learning and activities, and the Elementary Leadership Conference, which provided students from the Board's 113 elementary schools with leadership activities to guide them as they transition into high school.
