Math Achievement Action Plan
In response to the Ministry of Education’s renewed emphasis on mathematics teaching and learning through the Math Achievement Action Plan, we are excited to unveil DDSB’s new math strategy. The plan consists of three sections: a board-wide report, a report for Priority Schools with intensive improvement efforts, and a report specifically for monitoring key performance indicators in Priority Schools across the District.
The plan focuses on four key areas:
-
Curriculum Fidelity
-
Math Content Knowledge for Teaching
-
Knowing Your Student
-
Measurable Results in Math Achievement.
It aims to provide concrete, visible, and measurable strategies with key performance indicators at the board, school, and classroom levels.
In addition, the DDSB has developed a companion document to the Ontario Curriculum for Mathematics Grades 1 to 12. This companion document covers various aspects, including Indigenous and Human Rights in Mathematics Education, the Joy of Mathematics, High Impact Practices, Assessment/Evaluation, and Curriculum Strands/Concepts with Supporting Tools/Manipulatives.
The development and revision of these documents involve collaboration across central teams and departments, with feedback from central staff informing ongoing revisions.
